I. Project Introduction

1. What Is Linea ($LINEA) ?

Linea is an Ethereum Layer-2 zkEVM network developed by ConsenSys, designed to drive widespread adoption of Web3 applications through extremely high throughput, low fees, and full compatibility with the Ethereum ecosystem. The network promises to provide added value to the Ethereum economy via Layer-2 transactions, including a mechanism for burning transaction fees and strategies to increase capital efficiency, thereby strengthening Ethereum’s security and scalability.

2. How Does Linea Work?

ETH as the sole gas token: All transaction fees (gas) are paid in ETH; LINEA is not usable as gas.

Dual burn mechanism: After Layer-1 costs are deducted, 20% of the ETH is burned permanently; the remaining 80% is used to buy and burn LINEA tokens. This creates deflationary pressure on both ETH and LINEA.

Non-governance token: There is currently no DAO or on-chain governance mechanism and governance is conducted by the Linea Consortium.

Use-based rewards: Distribution of LINEA tokens is based on actual on-chain usage (e.g. via LXP activity, liquidity provision, etc.), rather than investment or presale allocation.

3. Who Founded Linea?

Supporting organization: Linea Network is supported by ConsenSys. There is no token allocation for team members or investors. Governance is conducted by the one-stop Linea Consortium, which includes organizations such as ENS Labs, Eigen Labs, SharpLink, and Status.

4. Linea Tokenomics

Token Name: LINEA

Total Supply: 72,009,990,000 LINEA (about 7.2 billion)

Circulating Supply (Before TGE): approximately 15.8 billion LINEA (21.9%)

Token Allocation and Vesting Schedule:

Early Users & Builders via Airdrop: 10% of total supply (specifically, 9% for users, 1% for strategic builders), fully unlocked at TGE.

Ecosystem Fund: 75% of total supply, locked over 10 years; the early 12-18 months see accelerated release (approximately 25%); the rest used for developing ecosystem and public products unlocks over time.

Consensys Treasury: 15%, vesting after a five-year lockup; can be used for liquidity or ecosystem deployment.

5. Timeline of Key Milestones

In July 2025, Tokenomics model was released, introducing the dual-burn logic and structure of LINEA token supply.

On September 10, 2025, Official Token Generation Event (TGE) was officially launched, with a 90-day airdrop period. Unclaimed tokens will go back to the Ecosystem Fund under Linea Consortium.

In mid-September 2025, the “Ignition” incentive program will be launched, distributing 1 billion LINEA tokens to encourage DEX liquidity.

From TGE through 90 days: the airdrop window is open, covering users, liquidity providers, etc. Eligibility is determined through LXP participation and Sybil verification.​
